Breast Augmentation Implant Plastic Surgery | Newport BeachBreast augmentation ranks as the number one cosmetic surgery procedure in the US today, according to the figures provided by the ASPS. Improved surgical techniques, increased customization, and innovative breast implant qualities have made the procedure less invasive and more effective.

Dr. Angela Champion is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon providing breast augmentation and various other procedures for the breast, body, and face. Patients in Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, and surrounding communities have an opportunity to receive treatments from Dr. Champion.

Benefits

Women with naturally small breasts, uneven, or asymmetrical breasts and those who want to have more voluptuous looking breasts for cosmetic reasons can benefit the most from breast augmentation implant plastic surgery. Women who have lost one or both breasts due to mastectomy can restore their breast appearance through reconstruction, which involves breast implants.

In cosmetic terms, breast augmentation implant surgery will help to increase fullness in the upper and lower pole of the breasts, accentuate breast projection, and enhance the overall body proportion. Women with sagging breasts may benefit from a combination of breast implants and breast lift. Most women will have improved self-confidence and a more satisfactory life when they have the breasts they desire.

Surgical Procedure

At the time of surgical planning, the breast surgeon will closely engage with the patient to determine the type and size of breast implants, the location of incisions, the placement position of implants in the breast tissue, and whether breast augmentation will be performed alone or in conjunction with breast lift. Once the planning and pre-operative preparation is completed, the surgery will be scheduled.

The surgeon may decide to use general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation to perform breast augmentation. An anesthesiologist or a registered anesthetist nurse will administer general anesthesia, and may remain present throughout the surgery to monitor the patient. Following anesthesia, the surgeon will begin the procedure by placing a discreet incision.

Dr. Champion prefers the incision to be located in one of the two places, which include under the breast along the crease, or along the lower border of the areola. The choice of incision location will be determined according to the type and size of implants, degree of surgery required, and the patient’s unique breast anatomy. Breast implant type, size and shape will be chosen appropriately in close consultation with the patient.

Through the incision, the surgeon will place the implants in one of the two locations, which include under the pectoral muscle or above the pectoral muscle directly behind the breast tissue. Once the implants are adjusted into position, the surgeon will close the incisions with layered sutures. Board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Champion receives patients from Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, and nearby areas for breast augmentation.

Recovery

Most patients will be able to return to their normal routine within two to three days following breast augmentation. However, they must avoid vigorous activities or exercises and lifting of heavy weights for a few weeks. Dr. Champion will provide a detailed list of instructions to help ensure a safer and faster recovery.
