About 10–20% of women may be self-conscious due to an inverted nipple where one or both nipples do not point out but lay flat instead. It may be something you were born with or something that occurs after breastfeeding but if one or both nipples suddenly become inverted for no apparent reason, you should see your doctor as this may indicate a more serious condition. While this can be easily corrected with surgery, it may not be permanent, you may lose some nipple sensitivity although typically temporary and it may also interfere with breast feeding.
