Areola Reduction

Areola reduction surgery decreases the area of pigmented skin surrounding one or both nipples.

Everyone’s areola size and shape vary and can change due to pregnancy, aging or significant weight loss or gain. If you feel self-conscious, this procedure can make sagging, protruding, enlarged, puffy areolas smaller and more proportional. It can also correct asymmetrical areolas, creating a more visual balance. This procedure can be performed alone or it can be added to another surgery such as breast augmentation or a breast lift/reduction. The recovery for an areolar reduction is relatively quick with most patients able to return to work after a day or two depending on the type of work. The incision around the areola typically heals well and can be improved with scar treatments. While you may experience some numbness, which is rarely permanent, this is a safe and effective procedure for a long-lasting result, but keep in mind, the areolae may stretch and widen over time due to aging, hormonal changes, weight fluctuation or pregnancy.

Nipple Reduction

Nipple reduction is a relatively quick, safe surgical procedure that can reduce the size of one or both nipples. It can shorten both nipple length and reduce width, creating more balance between the nipple and areola therefore improving the appearance and increasing confidence.

This procedure can be performed on men and women who are self-conscious about their nipple appearance, though it’s more commonly sought out by women whose nipples have become stretched and droopy from breastfeeding. As with any surgery, there are risks associated with a nipple reduction such as loss of nipple sensation as well as inability to nurse, although both are usually rare and temporary. This procedure is highly satisfying as there is very little downtime for a more youthful and more proportioned result.
