Eyelid (Blepharoplasty) Procedure

Eyes are one of our most important features. They are also one of the first things to show the signs of aging, so we take care of them the best we can by using eye cream and maybe even doing some medspa treatments to help tighten. When that is not enough, many women and men opt to have eyelid surgery or a Blepharoplasty. This procedure can be performed on only the upper or lower lids, or you can do both at the same time and has little to no scarring as incisions are well hidden in the fold of your upper eyelid and near the lash line of your lower lid. Blepharoplasty surgery rejuvenates your eyes and gives you an overall more youthful appearance.

It’s common to feel some type of anxiety about surgery. Dr. Champion will ease your concerns by going over the procedure with you and any questions you may have about eyelid surgery.

Who is a Candidate for Blepharoplasty Surgery

  • If you have excess loose or sagging upper eyelid skin
  • If you have bags or fatty deposits under your eyes which make your eyes look puffy or tired
  • If you have obstructed vision from your upper eyelid skin

Recovery

Blepharoplasty is a relatively minor out-patient procedure with little pain. As you heal, it is important to let your eyes rest and to not do anything that will cause your eyes to strain. You may experience some minor bruising and swelling which typically resolves in a week or two. Eye drops and cold compresses can be applied should your eyes feel dry or irritated. Many patients are working remotely and are able to return to limited work at around 7 days but most of our patients return to work at around 10-14 days.

While eyelid surgery is permanent, we all continue to age so it is important to continue using your eye cream and Botox so you can enjoy your beautiful youthful eyes as long as possible.
