Tummy Tuck / Abdominoplasty
Newport Beach

Abdominoplasty Procedure

We all want a flat tummy and work hard to achieve it, but due to pregnancy, heredity, significant weight loss or simply aging, we are often left with loose skin, weakened abdominal muscles and/or a “pouch”. A Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty surgery resolves those issues by removing the excess skin & any stretch marks that are below your belly button and sewing your separated muscles back together leaving you with a smooth, lean abdomen.

A tummy tuck is not a substitution for weight loss. It is important to be at a stable weight that you can maintain so you can enjoy your results for a longer period.

At your consultation visit, Dr. Champion will listen to your questions and concerns and help you make an informed decision. She will go over risks, recovery and your individual result expectations.

Who is a Candidate for Tummy Tuck Surgery

Women and men are candidates for a tummy tuck if they are healthy, active, stable in weight and non- smokers and cannot “work off” their pouch with diet and exercise. Generally, good candidates are also those who suffer from:

  • Loose, flabby skin or a hanging “apron”
  • Diastasis or separation of abdominal muscles
  • Stretch marks below your belly button or wrinkly skin
  • Desire a firmer and leaner figure

Recovery

After surgery, you will be placed in a surgical binder to help minimize swelling and give abdominal support as you heal. Dr. Champion will ask that you walk slightly bent over to minimize tension to your incision for about 5-7 days. Depending on what you do for work, most of our patients return to work in 7-10 days or up to 2 weeks with full recovery being about 8 weeks. If you would like to stay at an aftercare facility, our team can help you coordinate your care. Dr. Champion and her team will be with you every step of the way as you recover.
