Breast Lift Surgery
Dr. Champion’s goal is to help women feel confident. Many factors contribute to how we feel about ourselves, and the appearance of our breasts is just one of the reasons. A Breast Lift or Mastopexy is designed to lift and reshape the breasts to support a new contour. Many women seek to lift their breasts due to unattractive genetic features or after having children, aging or after weight loss/gain by requesting a breast lift to help achieve a more youthful appearance of their breasts. It is important for clear communication to understand the breast lift procedure, benefits and risks as well as desired outcome so Dr. Champion can recommend the best technique and procedure. Benefits include:
- Reshaping tubular misshapen breasts
- Improve breast droopiness
- Improve breast sagging
The breast lift will not change breast size or necessarily create fullness in the upper portion of the breasts. In some cases, patients may choose to undergo a breast lift with a breast augmentation. Dr. Champion will help you decide on the best treatment by customizing your plan at the time of initial consultation.
Breast Lift Surgery
Dr. Champion understands what is important to a woman and as a breast specialist, her breast lifts are in high demand because of her technique. There are different types of breast lifting procedures that Dr. Champion may recommend depending on breast size & shape, the size and position of your areolas, the degree of droopiness and skin quality/elasticity and amount of extra skin you are starting out with and will discuss each option with you at your consultation.
The different types of lifts that she may recommend are:
- Circumareolar Mastopexy is also referred to as a Donut Lift or a Mini-Lift. An incision is made around the areola where the color differentiates between the areola and skin.
- Vertical Lift is also referred to as a Lollipop Lift. There is the same incision as a circumareolar lift with a second vertical incision at the bottom of it going down to the fold of your breast.
- Full Lift is also referred to as a Standard Lift or Anchor Lift. This technique is ideal for patients with more significant drooping. The incisions are the same as the vertical lift with a third incision in the fold of your breast.
Who is a Candidate for a Breast Lift
If you are in good physical health, at a stable weight, a non-smoker and feel that your breasts are droopy, sagging or have lost shape and volume, you are a good candidate for a breast lifting procedure. Other reasons may include experiencing asymmetry, pendulous or elongated breasts or your nipples are pointing downward. Dr. Champion will go over your best options at your consultation so you can achieve the most optimal result.
Recovery
Recovery for the breast lift requires special care, but patients are often up and about within a few days following the procedure. Dr. Champion will provide you with a list of instructions to follow for a pleasant recovery. Instructions will include but may not be limited to: medications to take and avoid, follow up appointments, hygiene regimen, care for incisions, and the types of activities to avoid in the weeks following breast lift surgery.
While Breast lift surgery results are quite complimentary, but there is no guarantee. In some cases, it may not be possible to achieve fully satisfactory results with a single surgical procedure and another surgery may be necessary. In rare cases, complications may arise, but can be managed when immediately reported to Dr. Champion.
The appearance of your breast lift will last for many years to come. Yet, the results may change over time. Dr. Champion’s patients are typically highly satisfied with their results and renewed confidence in their appearance.
